No new contract offer, say Cole's representatives

After a morning of reports surrounding the future of West Ham striker Carlton Cole, Sky Sports have just confirmed that there has been no new contract offer tabled by the club to the player- according to Cole's representatives.

A statement issued to Sky Sports by the 29 year old's representatives stated that "there was only one offer [of a new contract] that was discussed during pre season, after which nothing has been discussed since.. Carlton's only focus has been to do his best for the team to help them stay in the Premier League. Carlton is out of contract in the summer and has always performed at his best whenever he's been called upon."

In this age of digital media, the earliest confirmation from footballers of news regarding their futures usually comes on Twitter, but the big striker has said nothing on the social networking site as of yet. We'll keep you posted with all the latest on this one.
