West Ham mull over £5m Hooper swoop

Celtic star Gary Hooper has again been linked with a move to Upton Park as Sam Allardyce's search for a partner for Andy Carroll continues.

The Hammers were strongly linked with the former Grays Athletic man towards the back end of last season, with a distinct need for firepower up front and the rumours have now resurfaced, with a source close to the Essex boy claiming that Hooper is 'desperate' to join the East London side.

This comes directly after reports in the last hour that Celtic have rejected bids of £4m from West Ham's Premier League rivals Norwich and from Championship outfit QPR.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon recently warned potential suitors that he would not sell the former Scunthorpe forward, who has one year left on his current Parkhead deal, for a knock-down fee, saying that he didn't think 'a player of his [Hooper's] value drops just because he has a year left on his contract. He's worth a lot of money to us.'
