Local boy Cole targets Wembley for West Ham

By Alex Shilling, News Editor

West Ham midfielder Joe Cole has told the Newham Recorder that he is targeting glory and a big day out for the club next season.

The Hammers sealed promotion back to the top flight with a 2-1 win over Blackpool at Wembley in 2012 but Cole has echoed the words of Hammers' teammate Matt Jarvis in stating his ambition for the club to end their 33 year silverware drought.

The 31 year old midfielder, who returned to the club on a free transfer from Liverpool in January, lifted the FA Cup at Wembley with Chelsea in 2009 and 2010 and now wants to do the same with West Ham.

He said: "I think the ambition of the club at the moment is improvement- but for me personally, I would love to take this club to Wembley because those are the days you remember at the end of your career."

"You look at Swansea and Wigan last year and we would like a little bit of that because it has been such a long time since West Ham have been at Wembley."
