The Rhodes are long: Irons plan summer swoop for Scotland star

According to the Mirror, Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes is in West Ham manager Sam Allardyce's summer sights as the Lancashire-born boss looks set to raid his old club in search of striking firepower.

Rovers spent £8 million on the Scottish international last summer and he has been a shining light in a poor team, scoring 21 goals so far this season. Allardyce tried to sign the 23 year old when he was at Huddersfield Town but was put off by the price tag. However, with Blackburn in deep relegation trouble, lying just a point above the Championship drop zone with just 5 games to play, the Ewood Park club could be tempted to sell their talisman on the cheap and the Hammers will be ready to pounce, with the Mirror reporting that sources close to Rhodes stating that he would be ready to leave if a top club came in.

Just whether West Ham equate to Rhodes' idea of a 'top club' is a different matter however...
