Wellington waits home as Hammers head to Dubai

West Ham's new signing Wellington Paulista has opted not to join the rest of the Hammers squad in their trip to their training camp in Dubai this week- opting instead to remain in London and play for the Development Squad. An Upton Park insider told the Mirror that Wellington, 28, "says staying here will make him fitter and reckons playing for the reserves will make him fitter than going to Dubai. He's scored against Barcelona at the Nou Camp so knows what the big time is all about. This boy could surprise a few people." The pacy striker, on loan to the end of the season from high-flying Brazilian side Cruzeiro; who count Brazilian legends Ronaldo and Rivaldo amongst their former players; has been in white-hot form for the reserves so far this season, with three goals and three games and on this sort of form and with that winning attitude, surely it won't be too long before he features in Sam Allardyce's first team plans.
