O'Brien targets more clean sheets

West Ham defender Joey O’Brien was pleased to keep a clean sheet against Swansea City last weekend and hopes that it might be the start of some better defensive form.

Saturday’s defensive performance was sufficiently efficient that goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen had little to do. It was a first clean sheet in 10 games for the Hammers, and O’Brien admitted that the recent defensive displays have not been up to scratch.

Speaking to whufc.com, the Ireland international said: "it was great to get back with a clean sheet against Swansea. That's the first thing you have to get right - the manager said that just before the game, make sure we come in with a clean sheet.”

O’Brien has shown his versatility this season and said that it is not a problem for him to play right or left back.

Let's hope this new-found defensive dependability continues into next weekend and beyond!
