Nolan wants end to January transfers

West Ham captain Kevin Nolan has called for an end to the January transfer window, after QPR manager Harry Redknapp (whose opinion for some reason still appears to matter to the sports journalists of this country) complained of the past transfer window being reminiscent of "gang warfare." An interesting comment, given that the former Hammers boss has landed several high-profile signings during his managerial career owing to close contacts with the same agents he now criticises. Anyway, Toxteth-born midfielder Nolan, who earned a lucrative move to Newcastle United in the 2009 January transfer window, believes that Redknapp's comments were "genius" and that "all the managers and owners really do feel" the same way as 'Arry. Our captain doubtless also thinks that the former Tottenham manager is a "legend" and believes that his son Jamie's punditry is "different class." This will certainly be an interesting topic to watch, with UEFA President Michel Platini hinting the other day that growing opposition to the window could see it abolished.
