Irons agree permanent deal with Liverpool for Carroll- updated

The Hammers have agreed a permanent deal for centre forward Andy Carroll, according to West Ham chairman David Sullivan. Sky Sports News are reporting that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs, but Carroll is yet to agree terms. Sullivan confirmed that a deal had been reached between the two clubs for the England man, telling the Daily Mail that "we have an agreement with Liverpool to sign him at the end of the season but we have no agreement with the player. He came to West Ham on loan to prove himself to Liverpool and that hasn't changed. We have 15 games left and we need some goals and some points, so let's see what happens." Despite the Hammers' lack of deadline day transfer activity, this could well be the archetypal "just like a new signing" move that we need.

The fee, as we understand from our sources, is in the region of £15 million- which would represent a significant loss for the Merseyside club on a player they splashed out £35 million out on January 2011. A permanent deal was mooted prior to Carroll's loan to the Hammers and now it could be on the cards. One to watch!
