Left back quest to end? Wigan's Figueroa to sign Hammers deal in May

West Ham's long-term mission to sign a left back on a permanent deal looks set to reach a conclusion, according to the Daily Mail. The newspaper reports that Wigan Athletic's Maynor Figueroa- linked with the Irons last week- has turned down a new contract at the DW Stadium and there has been "a clear signal" that he will sign at the Boleyn Ground at the end of the season. The 29 year old is well known for his strength and link up play on the left flank and those qualities are obviously things that Big Sam admires in him. If the Mail have got it right, excellent signing. Figueroa's a proven Premier League performer and is great value for a free transfer- could see him linking up well with Diame. Allardyce's signings are usually spot on and looks like the gaffer's got it right again.
