Lee lighting up Rush Green for reserves

Young striker Elliot Lee inspired yet another win for the Development Squad on Friday night at Rush Green against West Bromwich Albion- their sixth home victory of the campaign. The 18 year old notched up his third goal of the campaign before the win was sealed by new loan signing Wellington Paulista, and Lee was clearly delighted with another excellent performance, which leaves the Irons in second place in the Elite Group U21 league, four points behind leaders Spurs. "It was a good time to score," the Durham-born striker told West Ham TV. "Scoring just before half time gives the lads a chance to settle down, have a breather and get our heads back together." With the form of Brazilian forward Paulista, Lee has been recently forced onto the left flank of a front three, but the switch does not appear to have affected him in any way, and he insists he would be sorry to see Paulista go if West Ham manager Sam Allardyce feels the need for attacking reinforcements for the first team. "I hope Wellington can start scoring for the first team now instead of us- I'll be sad to see him go but good luck to him." With form like this, and with the Hammers first string struggling to score goals of any description, it would hardly be surprising if both of the Development Squad's shining striking stars pushed themselves into the first team reckoning before the end of the season.
