Irons outcast Piquionne to join MLS side on trial

Blowing Bubbles sources inform us that last night, West Ham misfit Fredi Piquionne flew to the United States to join MLS club Portland Timbers on trial. Piquionne, 34, who has not made a first team appearance for the Hammers since coming on as an 85th minute substitute for Carlton Cole in the 2-1 Championship victory over Nottingham Forest on January 21 of last year, has been left out in the cold by boss Sam Allardyce and, after a summer move to Leeds United fell through, has struggled to play football of any kind- usually not even being considered good enough for a regular starting berth in Paul Fairclough's Development Squad side. However, he is understood to have been offered a trial in the States by the Timbers. This will be surely be excellent news for West Ham fans; if the trial goes well and a permanent deal is offered to Piquionne, it will mean we get a player who is on reported wages of around £40,000 a week off the wage bill. Here's hoping the trial goes well and they like him!
