West Ham will move to sign Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa in the summer, according to the Sunday People. The Honduras international will be a free agent in the summer when his contract runs out at the DW Stadium and is likely to be tempted by a reported £40,000 a week contract at Upton Park. The 29 year old can play at left back or centre half and has earned himself a reputation as one of the most solid defenders in the Premier League, with four years at Wigan under his belt. Figueroa will be best-known to most fans for scoring Match Of The Day's Goal Of The Season in the 2009/2010 season; a free kick from his own half in a 2-2 draw at Stoke City. There's no question that we need defensive reinforcements, and the experienced Figueroa could be right up our street- would be potentially great value, as a free transfer.
