Dubai trip Taylor-made: winger looking forward to London derby after break

Matt Taylor has said that he hopes the trip to Dubai can be as effective as it was last year, and that wins will come, starting with Tottenham.

Taylor believes that the side will be refreshed and ready to return to action with a more positive outlook after last Sunday’s dismal 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Speaking to West Ham TV, he said: "We're hoping for the same effect as last year.” (When, after a break to Dubai, the Hammers hit a fantastic run of form and only lost once in their final eighteen matches). “It's something the manager has always done throughout his career with his teams and if he continues to do it, he must believe that it works. The proof is in the pudding.”

The ex Bolton man recognises the fact that chances need to be converted to goals, and at Villa Park, that didn’t happen.

On the Villa game, Taylor said: "The half time team talk was a positive one because we thought we were in a good position. You get punished at this level for mistakes and that's what happened on Sunday.”

Perhaps if more chances are taken against Spurs, the players can avoid the hairdryer treatment.
