Arsenal in talks with January West Ham target: agent

According to Venezuelan international Fernando Amorebieta's agent, Arsenal are in talks with the 27 year old over a summer transfer. The Athletico Bilbao man was one of Sam Allardyce's many, many left back targets during the January transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise, despite Bilbao's willingness to cash in on a player who had stated his intention to leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the current campaign. As reported by Blowing Bubbles on January 30, the Irons were interested in the player, as were Premier League rivals Everton and Stoke, but now Sky Sports report that Arsenal are the favourites to sign the player, who is apparently keen to play in the Premier League, despite attracting interest from filthy-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala. Any second attempt in the summer to bring the left back to the Boleyn Ground will surely depend on who the West Ham manager is and what division we're playing him but Amorebieta would definitely be a useful signing; having earned himself a reputation as one of the most reliable defenders in La Liga.
