A Bresc of fresh air: Hammers receive first instalment of Diamanti cash from Italian side

After a long-drawn out saga with Italian club Brescia over the money owed from the 2010 transfer of Italy international Alessandro Diamanti, West Ham have now reached an agreement with the Serie B club to receive the money- and have now received the first instalment, of £200,000. Blowing Bubbles reported on 28 January that no money had been gained from Brescia and that the Hammers were suing them for the money; with co-chairman David Gold stating on Twitter that the issue was "near" to being resolved but was not dealt with yet. Now, it seems, we've got our way. Gold tweeted a fan inquiring about the saga two hours ago saying "The Italian league has granted the monies owed to West Ham by Brescia we now have received the first payment of £200k". Whether Brescia backed down in the face of our threatened legal action, or the legal action was taken and the Italian club were forced to pay us the money, it's great to get this one sorted. An official statement on the matter is expected from the club early next week, so we'll keep you posted.
